Pre-event recording, sometimes called pre-buffer or look-back recording, is a feature in camera and streaming systems that continuously captures and stores a rolling buffer of video in memory even before a formal recording event is triggered. When a recording is initiated, the saved buffer is prepended to the new footage so that the recording begins seconds or minutes before the trigger, ensuring that the events leading up to an incident are captured even if recording was not started in anticipation.
