Flash Video (FLV) is a container format developed by Adobe to carry video, audio, and data over the internet using the Flash platform. It became the dominant format for web video in the 2000s and early 2010s and remains relevant as the native container format for RTMP streams. Although Flash itself has been retired and FLV is no longer used for viewer-facing playback, FLV containers are still commonly encountered in RTMP ingest pipelines between encoders and media servers.
