A fish-eye lens is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a very short focal length that captures an extremely broad field of view, often 180 degrees or more, at the cost of pronounced barrel distortion that curves straight lines toward the edges of the frame. Fish-eye lenses are used in body-worn cameras when maximum environmental awareness is needed, such as in confined spaces or close-quarters situations where a standard or wide-angle lens would miss significant portions of the surrounding area.
