In live streaming, an overlay is a graphical element displayed on top of the video feed that provides supplemental information or visual branding without interrupting the underlying footage. Overlays can include text labels, organizational logos, GPS maps, sensor data readouts, timestamps, operator identification, or alert indicators. In operational streaming from body-worn cameras, overlays allow command centers to see contextual data such as location and environmental readings directly within the video frame.
