Mixed reality (MR) is a technology that merges physical and digital environments in ways that allow real and virtual objects to coexist and interact in real time. Unlike augmented reality, which overlays digital content on a view of the real world, mixed reality anchors virtual objects to physical space so they respond to and interact with the environment. In operational contexts, mixed reality enables remote experts to annotate what a field operator is seeing in their live video feed, highlighting specific objects or providing spatial guidance.
