An IP camera is a digital video camera that captures video and transmits it as digital data over a wired or wireless IP network, as opposed to older analog cameras that required dedicated coaxial cable infrastructure. IP cameras have built-in network interfaces and can stream live video directly to a network video recorder, media server, or streaming platform using protocols such as RTSP or ONVIF. They are widely used in fixed surveillance positions, command center infrastructure, and industrial monitoring.
