Field of view (FOV) is the angular extent of the observable area that a camera lens can capture, measured in degrees. A narrow field of view, like that of a telephoto lens, sees a small area in high detail. A wide field of view captures a broad scene with less magnification. For body-worn cameras used in operational streaming, a wide or ultra-wide field of view is generally preferred because it captures more of the surrounding environment from the operator's perspective, improving situational coverage for remote commanders.
